EAT (RED) DRINK (RED) SAVE LIVES

EAT (RED) DRINK (RED) SAVE LIVES is a month-long, worldwide campaign whereby anyone and everyone in the culinary world from Michelin starred restaurants to food chains, food trucks, bars, cafes, food media, world-renowned food personalities, brands and more unite with one shared goal: to turn up the heat on the AIDS fight and raise a lot of dough to #86AIDS.

Throughout June, a variety of EAT (RED) DRINK (RED) SAVE LIVES events and promotions will take place. It kicks off on May 31st with a mile-long dinner featuring bespoke menus by top chefs in New York City. This special event is hosted by Mario Batali with a performance by The Roots. Additionally, all June long (RED) dishes and drinks will be available in restaurants around the world and there will be pop-up food truck parties. Each participating food and drink business will make a donation to the Global Fund to fight AIDS, to support (RED)’s fight for an AIDS free generation.

Below are some of NYC's featured cocktails & venues worth heading into to sip and save lives:

NATIONAL MINT JULEP DAY

National Mint Julep Day is coming up this Saturday, May 30th. The frosty cocktail is commonly associated with The Kentucky Derby and the first appearance of the cocktail dates back to the 1700s. Raise your glasses this Saturday with these classic and reimagined Juleps:

THE PALM COURT: Housed in the iconic Plaza Hotel, celebrity Chef Geoffrey Zakarian, Master Architect Thierry Despont, and renowned Mixologist Brian Van Flandern relaunched the Palm Court last year. Sit comfortably amongst palm trees and plants under a beautifully stained glass ceiling and sip on Jay Gatsby's favorite libation here: the Gatsby Mint Julep. Note: come with a Gatsby-sized wallet as this minty treat will cost you $25. View the full booze menu...

REBELLE: The Bowery's latest hotspot focuses on French-inspied cuisine with a cocktail menu fusing French and American techniques. Try their spruced up Julep which incorporates Pamplemousse (grapefruit) Liqueur and Cognac. View the full booze menu...

CHAR NO.4: Being that the name comes from a bourbon-aging practice and they have a menu of over 150 American whiskeys, it's easy to beleive that Char No.4 cranks out a great Julep. Wash down a hearty Southern staple with their barrel-aged Mint Julep. View the full booze menu...
