dark and stormy cocktail

It’s that time of year again — the time when things go bump in the night and you’re never quite sure what that noise was. Was there a creek outside? Is that someone tapping on the window? Are those storm clouds rolling into town? Eek! The drink that you need to go with this atmosphere? The dark and stormy!

pouring rum for the dark and stormy

Now, let’s be honest here, this is an awesomely named drink, especially for this time of year. I mean, come on, the dark and stormy! How much more atmospheric can you get when thinking up an October drink?

Ignoring the spectacular name for this time of year, this really is a refreshing drink when it’s warm outside. For those of us lucky enough to live somewhere warm this time of year, this will fits the bill and keeps us cool. For those of you who are somewhere cold — then this is the perfect drink for you to have and think about warmer days. See? The perfect October/Halloween atmosphere drink.

garnish the dark and stormy with lime

If you want to get pedantic (lord knows people have accused me of it from time to time), some claim that the people from Bermuda would never put lime in this drink. For me, the dark and stormy really does require the lime. Also, the darker and funkier the rum that you can find, the better it’ll be for this.

Awesome name? Check. Ready for Halloween festivities? Check. Dark and stormy? You bet’cha.
