The spiciness of Kentucky straight rye whiskey pays homage to the high-rye content of Basil Hayden’s Bourbon, and balances with Canadian rye from the award-winning Alberta Distillery. A finishing touch of California port ties a bow of sweetness and deep ruby-color on this unprecedented blend.

Nose: Surprisingly reticent at first, repeated olfactory dips into the glass reveal a rich old-world character of Victorian elegance, in no small part due to the port finish. The rye plays a softer role than expected, leaving an almost molasses edge to the nose.
Taste: Deep and rich in much the same way that a dark rum has. The overall impression is of a soft rye married to a slightly sweetened Canadian styled whisky.
Finish: Medium long with chewy molasses cookie notes.
Overall: Eminently mixable in whiskey cocktails, this also is beautiful served on its own with a large cube of ice. A most welcome addition to the Hayden portfolio.
