New drinks at Spare Room

The Spare Room at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood has launched a new drinks menu. Expect to see some of your old favorites like the Salt and Vinegar martini but it’s time to drink these end of summer libations.

The Many Based God

One of the many things I like about the Spare Room are the neo-tiki drinks. The Many Based God is definitely an updated drink for what is sure to be our extended summer. The salted macadamia nuts which are finely chopped reminds one of orgeat and gives that same creaminess to a drink. Plus this one gets topped with a cute plastic tree froggie. It’s inedible so just admire it in your glass.

You’re Killing Me, Smalls

For Old Fashioned whiskey cocktail drinkers, be sure to try the You’re Killing Me, Smalls. It’s a really good riff with both bourbon and Irish whiskies. The sweetness comes from Creme de Noyaux, an almond liqueur. Everything is balanced out with both toasted pecan bitters and salt.

Dinglehopper

The Dinglehopper will be your patio crusher, the drink you can have 2-3 of (or 5!) in a night and never tire of it. My friend whiskey is year-round with me but gin is my bestie in the hot summer. The aloe, pear and yuzu flavors all work so well together.

Dinglehopper – Bombay dry gin, pear brandy, Chareau aloe liqueur, lime, yuzu tonic

Bug Juice

I never went to camp as a kid so I missed out on apparently the well-known kiddie cocktail, bug juice. As an adult, you can enjoy this at Spare Room to relive those glory days. I’m sure this one will be much better than a powdered punch. It’s interesting with pineapple and green tea. And of course, the candy garnish will be a smash hit with your inner 9-year-old.
