Two readers love this post.
Is there a more perfect cocktail than the Manhattan? My version fairly close the how the drink was probably made pre-1900. Most people use Angostura bitters in a Manhattan. I add a dash of orange bitters and I used Abbott's bitters for this drink.
Manhattan
2oz rye whiskey (Rittenhouse Bottled in Bond)
1oz sweet vermouth (Dolin)
1 dash orange bitters (Angostura Orange)
2 dashes Abbott's bitters (Angostura also works)
Add all ingredients to a mixing glass. Add ice and stir. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a high quality cherry.
