Spring's Sizzling Newcomers

A winter full of polar vortexes has New Yorkers doing crazy things: people talking about moving south or west, dining alfresco in ‘warm’ 40 degree temperatures, Snuggie bar crawls in May (just kidding, but what happened to those boozy blanket fests?!). But finally spring has arrived, the summer is just around the corner and this week welcomes many new and exciting openings. Check out our list and you’ll have no shortage of new dining and drinking experiences to enjoy as the summer approaches.

The Black Ant – With the success of their popular West Village Mexican joint Ofrenda, the owners are giving the East Village a little run for their money; this time in a 2,800 square foot space housing a lounge, bar, 2 dining rooms and an outdoor space coming soon. Where better to enjoy every agave spirit from Casa Noble to Casa Dragones and house-infused tequilas?

Horchata – In other south-of-the-border news, Horchata opened across town last Wednesday on Sixth Avenue in Greenwich Village. For those unfamiliar, Horchata is a refreshing milky beverage typically made of ground almonds, sesame seeds, rice, barley, or tigernuts. In addition to their house margaritas and cocktails, they've got unique spiked horchata which you'll want to sooth your tastebuds after all the spicy antojitos you'll be downing.

Sonny’s Soda Shoppe – How far do you have to go to sip Limoncello, eat Sicilian pizza, and cleanse your palate with blood orange gelato? First on the travel itinerary, make your way to The Mondrian Soho, then enter the elevator, and finally travel back in time to Soho’s only 1950’s style Italian Beach Club. Enjoy the sprawling views of Manhattan while mingling with friends under pinstriped umbrellas and watching epic sunsets atop Soho’s premier boutique hotel.

Union Bar & Kitchen - West Soho, South Village, Hudson Square, whichever name you fancy, this neighborhood is booming. The New American contemporary menu grabs influences from Mexico, Asia and France, ensuring there’s something for every palate. Dine here with friends or shack up with appetizers and cocktails like the Trouble Maker at the bustling bar. Even if you don’t live or work in West Soho, we have no doubt this spot will soon be your new favorite neighborhood gem.
