The Western Sour is an interesting tiki cocktail. It comes straight out of the mid-century and was served at Steve Crane's Kon-Tiki restaurants. What makes it interesting and unusual is the fact that it uses bourbon as it's base spirit. You don't see that very often in tiki drinks. It's worth trying at least once and I have a feeling that with some tweaking, you could really turn this into something special.

Western Sour

2oz bourbon (Buffalo Trace)

1oz white grapefruit juice

.5oz falernum (B.G. Reynolds)

.25oz simple syrup

.5oz lime juice

Add all ingredients to a shaker. Add ice and shake. Pour unstrained into a rocks glass. Garnish with something tiki-esque.
