I must admit, as a professional bartender, I hate making this drink. When behind theMojito bar, and I hear someone say to me "I'll have six Mojitos", you can imagine the look on my face. It is time consuming, messy, and will back any bartender up. So if you ever order this, TIP BIG!

But be that as it may, people love them and I have an awesome Mojito drink recipe I learned from this Cuban guy down in Miami.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 oz Simple Syrup
  • 6 Fresh Mint Leaves
  • 4 Wedges of Fresh Lime
  • 3 to 4 oz Rum (Depending on how strong you want it)
  • Soda Water

Directions

  • Add the simple syrup to the bottom of a mixing glassMuddling
  • Add the mint and limes and muddle. (You do not have to muddle the mint like crazy, you are just trying to get all of the juice out of the lime. The oil in the mint will seep out on its own.)
  • Fill with ice and the rum.
  • Shake vigorously until you see the lime and mint are distributed throughout the entire drink.
  • Pour into a 16 oz glass of your choosing (I use a pint glass)
  • Top with soda water; garnish with a sprig of mint.

*** If this is not a "minty" enough recipe for you, then you can make a mint simple syrup ***

Directions for Mint Simple SyrupMint Simple Syrup

  • In a pot, bring two cups of water to a boil.
  • Add four cups of sugar to the water and stir until the sugar is dissolved.
  • Add at least 12 mint leaves to the syrup and let simmer for 10 minutes.
  • Let cool and you have Mint Simple Syrup you can use in your mojitos.

There you have it, an awesome mojito recipe to make home yourself. I hope you enjoy!
