A Bramble cocktail is one that was made for summer berries. Raspberries, strawberries, blackberries and in this case blueberries. For me, I like to make this a low-alcohol cocktail. On a hot day, this is perfect. Lots of crushed ice, fruit and spirit. Need more? You could probably make a Bramble with produce you already have in your kitchen and bar. You could even use frozen fruit. All you need are berries (whatever kind you like), simple syrup or flavored syrup, spirit and club soda. Here I’m using a lemongrass syrup with the blueberries.

You should be able to find fresh lemongrass at your local grocer. This syrup is a cross between a cordial and a syrup. For the lemongrass syrup, cut 2 fresh lemongrass stalks into pieces and then split in half. Add to your pot with 2 cups sugar, 1 cup water and 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice. Bring all contents to a simmer and cook for 10 minutes. Remove from heat, cool and let sit for 1 hour (for flavors to infuse) or overnight (refrigerated). Strain and bottle. This syrup can be used for other cocktails and alone with club soda.

Lemongrass Bramble:

6-7 Blueberries [Fresh or Frozen]

1 1/2oz. Lemongrass Syrup or Simple Syrup

1 1/2oz. Vodka or Gin

1 barspoon Creme Yvette [Optional]

Club Soda

*Add berries to glass and muddle. Berries here muddled with Creme Yvette (optional). Add lemongrass syrup and some ice. Add vodka or gin, top with ice and club soda. Garnish with berries and lemon wheel, cheers from www.foodietails.com
