Peachy Keen and Cinnamon Toast Crunch

Peachy Keen and Cinnamon Toast Crunch

I was in Venice recently to check out Charcoal for dineLA. We decided to check out Nighthawk: Breakfast Bar for pre-dinner cocktails.

They have three spiked cereal milk drinks on the menu. Since I’m lactose intolerant, I made my friend get it and I just took a couple of sips. She decided to try the Cinnamon Toast Crunch with spiced rum first.

The Cinnamon Toast Crunch with spiced rum is exactly how it sounds. It’s as if you drained the cereal milk and tossed in some booze. If you like Cinnamon Toast Crunch, you’ll love it. My friend decided to also try the Honey Nut Cheerios and bourbon. She enjoyed this one a little bit more. And since we’re both whiskey lassies, I can see why. The bourbon comes out more and reminds me of fall/ winter drinks.

I got the Peachy Keen which besides the cute name appealed to me since I love chartreuse. It turned out to be a little sweeter than I wanted but it wasn’t too sweet. I should have realized the jam would make a drink with yellow Chartreuse even sweeter. I tend to think yellow Chartreuse is pretty sweet (in comparison to my beloved green Chartreuse).

Manhattan

Manhattan

So I got a Manhattan for my next drink. I didn’t feel like trying another jam drink nor did I want a cold brew cocktail. There were also mimosas and other brunch-y drinks. Because duh, this is a breakfast bar!

When in doubt, drink whiskey.

I’ll have to come back to try the food and more classic cocktails.
