Not so long ago, we received an assortment of beers from R&D Brewing of Raleigh, North Carolina. To be more precise, we received five beers with names such as Lo-Cal Resolution IPA, Passionfruit Gose, Riviera Lager, Seven Saturdays IPA, and Riviera Amber Lager.
Since our not so regularly scheduled research sessions at The Murder Table tend to involve several reviews of several different beverages in one sitting, reviewing all five of these beers at once didn’t sound like a very good idea (we consider these sessions to be a marathon, not a sprint), so we decided to pick two to review. The beers we chose were two decidedly different IPAs: Lo-Cal Resolution IPA and Seven Saturdays IPA.
Here’s what R&D Brewing had to say about these beers:
Lo-Cal Resolution – It doesn’t get much more crushable than this. Starting off with a delicate fruity aroma, you’re greeted by a sparkling effervescence that finishes clean, refreshing and guilt-free. 98 calories and 2.4g carbs. 4.2% ABV. 14 IPUs
Seven Saturdays IPA – Slightly golden in color with notes of grapefruit, mango, and passionfruit. Classically brewed providing a perfectly balanced bitter and sweet finish. 6.2% ABV. 60 IBUs.
Lo-cal Craft Beer has been a bit of a mixed bag in our experience, so we were super curious to see how these two IPAs with very different ABVs and IBUs would compare to one another, i.e. would the Lo-Cal hold its own against what we assume will be a bigger and bolder brew?
