Perhaps you’ve heard of the Snakebite, a popular drink containing a mixture of beer and hard cider. But apparently that wasn’t the only kind of snake bite lurking in one woman’s drink.
Liu from Shuangcheng in Heilongjiang Province in China received quite a painful shock recently when the viper she had been marinating in sorghum wine (and was believed to be dead) jumped out of the container and bit her hand.
The wine is believed to have health benefits, and Liu had been drinking the concoction regularly to help combat her joint pain. After hearing her scream, her relatives ran to her aid, took her to the hospital and killed the snake. She was treated for the snake bite at the hospital, and has hopefully found a less dangerous way to treat her joint pain.
