Crown Royal Peach Whisky Review
D o you remember back in the fall when a mysterious photo of a Crown Royal Peach hit the internet? Everyone went nuts, and yet we didn’t hear or see ANY details outside of that photo. Was it real? Was it fake? Was it a sample? Well, it’s true! Crown Royal Peach is in fact real, it’s the latest flavor from the brand, and we just got out hands on a bottle. It officially hits shelves march 1st but you know we had to try it ourselves and tell you how it is. Remember, we drink EVERYTHING, so you don’t have to.
If you’ve followed Intoxicology over the years you’ll notice we try all of the flavors Crown Royal has releases, well almost all. We’ve got a bottle of their Texas Mesquite waiting to be cracked open so stay tuned. But every other flavor from Black all the way to Salted Carmel has made it’s way into our bar. There have been some big hits; Black, Honey, Apple all of which are regulars in our liquor cabinet. But there have also been some misses; Maple & Salted Caramel were just way too sweet, and Vanilla was meh. That being said, we’ve got high hopes for Crown Royal Peach. And it’s here just in time for Spring…
First Impression: Traditionally i’m not a fan of peaches but I enjoy peach flavored things. I especially like the smell of fresh peaches. When you crack open the bottle you get an immediate fruity nose right away which actually dulls the “harsh” aroma many associate with whisk(e)y. Like any Crown expression, it comes in it’s signature crown shaped bottle, at 70 proof and will cost roughly $21.99 for the 750 ml.
Tasting: It only took one sip to realize this one is a winner. There’s no need to waste a lot of words on this one, it’s good, really good. Crown’s already smooth and distinctive profile gets softened out with a rich fruity peach infusion that makes this one perfect for sipping over ice, or adding to a few simple recipes. In fact, we made a Peach Iced Tea that goes down REALLY easy. We’ll be sure to keep sampling just for ya know, research purposes…
Final Word: Peach whiskey has been done, then again, most of Crowns flavor releases were done several times over from other brands and then Crown came in and did it better. Crown Royal Peach is no exception. This might not knock off my #1 favorite Crown flavor, apple, but it most certainly creeps up to our 2nd favorite ahead of Crown Honey. For more information on Crown Royal Peach including where to buy it, be sure to visit them at www.Crownroyal.com or check them out on Facebook.
Cheers,
Alex
