Edradour Distillery

Three readers love this post.
A few months ago we visited Edradour Distillery which is just 90 minutes from Glasgow and Edinburgh. The distillery is beautiful and charming, and well worth the visit. We had one overriding regret about our trip to Edradour: we should have bought more whisky!!!
The entrance of Edradour
We got there just before closing and there was still one tour left!
Before making its own hooch, Edradour was an independent bottler named Signatory, and it still carries the brand.
So many interesting things
The list goes on, lots of whiskies that are impossible to find elsewhere
The distillery staff is a mix of friendly Germans (yeah I know) and Scotsmen. After a few drams we toured! We started at the main tasting room. I remember little about the video except that it was very short and well produced. Edradour’s water comes from a local place where there’s water and so on and so forth.
Spent mash getting shot out of the distillery. Mash is moved by hand.
The distillery grounds are on a swift-flowing creek.
A fast moving creek runs smack-dab through the middle of Edradour
Edradour is tiny, as evidenced from their stillhouse.
Edradour's wash still
Edradour’s twin spirit still
Unfortunately the request to do an impromptu Dallas Dhu 1979 cask tasting was not honored.
Wonderful, wonderful casks in the warehouse.
We returned to the gift shop to get some nice things. We ended up taking home a few cask finished Ballechins. I love the port, and it was one of my favorite bottles that we picked up. The rum-finished whisky was also terrific and in casks from Caroni, a closed distillery on Trinidad.

Definitely don't miss this tiny gem of a distillery.
