Five Whiskeys Worth Stealing

One reader loves this post.
Want to get away with experiencing such flavor that you’ll feel almost like you got way with the Pappy Van Winkle Heist?
We’re not advocating theft. It sometimes feels like we’re guilty of the most respectable crime of good taste considering our access to all the fine Bourbon we have as Kentuckians.
With all the Pappy hype, I wanted to take a moment and spotlight other limited edition Bourbons and rare whiskeys by hosting a unique whiskey event. One of the best ways to score a bottle of Pappy Van Winkle is to make friends with a liquor store owner who will hold one back for you.
You might stand a better chance of acquiring Pappy if you opened your own liquor store and held them all back for yourself.
Thus, the easiest route to perfection and rare flavor is attending the event I’m hosting at Bourbon’s Bistro in Louisville next Tuesday, April 8. I’ll be joined by my good friends John Morrison and Jason Brauner, who are the owners of this Bourbon establishment that enthusiasts and foodies regularly cite as their favorite, as we lead a tasting we’re calling “Five Whiskeys Worth Stealing.”
Bourbons, whiskeys and details listed below, see you there. Cheers! Tom Fischer

Pappy Van Winkle won’t be poured at this event – though Bourbon’s Bistro has Pappy Van Winkle in stock now to pour, and by all means buy yourself a pour of this rare and fine Bourbon too.

Bourbons Bistro’s Four Roses Private Label
Chosen by Bourbons Bistro owner, Jason Brauner. You can only have this bourbon at Bourbons Bistro.
Orphan Barrel 20-year-old Barterhouse Whiskey
Recently launched as one of the first two releases in the Orphan Barrel Whiskey Distilling Company collection, this 20-year old Bourbon discovered in old warehouses at the Stitzel-Weller facility in Louisville, Kentucky.
The whiskey’s mellow taste includes notes of roasted grain, charred oak and a brown sugar finish. Barterhouse Whiskey is bottled in Tullahoma, Tennessee.
Michter’s 20 Year Single Barrel Bourbon
Michter’s considers 17 to 20 years the “Fork in the Road Point” when certain barrels of whiskey can achieve an extraordinary level of quality. It is these particular barrels that their Master Distiller Willie Pratt personally selects for their very limited bottling of Michter’s 20 Year Single Barrel Bourbon.
Michter’s 25 Year Old Rye
This is the most allocated of Michter’s limited production items. This 25 Year-Old Rye, subject to the costly evaporation of a quarter century of “Angel’s Share,” continues the Michter’s tradition of sparing no expense in striving to produce the finest whiskey possible.
Jefferson’s Reserve Ocean II
Ocean II inspired by the original Jefferson’s Ocean, which was new-filled bourbon barrels, the Jefferson’s Ocean II: Aged at Sea takes older bourbon barrels and brings it around the world.
Stopping at 5 different continents and crossing the equator 4 times, this bourbon truly is a world beater.
Surprise Offering
A Surprise so rare, we can’t divulge our secrets.
