You might stand a better chance of acquiring Pappy if you opened your own liquor store and held them all back for yourself.

Thus, the easiest route to perfection and rare flavor is attending the event I’m hosting at Bourbon’s Bistro in Louisville next Tuesday, April 8.  I’ll be joined by my good friends John Morrison and Jason Brauner, who are the owners of this Bourbon establishment that enthusiasts and foodies regularly cite as their favorite, as we lead a tasting we’re calling “Five Whiskeys Worth Stealing.”

Orphan Barrel 20-year-old Barterhouse Whiskey

Recently launched as one of the first two releases in the Orphan Barrel Whiskey Distilling Company collection, this 20-year old Bourbon discovered in old warehouses at the Stitzel-Weller facility in Louisville, Kentucky.

The whiskey’s mellow taste includes notes of roasted grain, charred oak and a brown sugar finish. Barterhouse Whiskey is bottled in Tullahoma, Tennessee.

Michter’s 20 Year Single Barrel Bourbon

Michter’s considers 17 to 20 years the “Fork in the Road Point” when certain barrels of whiskey can achieve an extraordinary level of quality. It is these particular barrels that their Master Distiller Willie Pratt personally selects for their very limited bottling of Michter’s 20 Year Single Barrel Bourbon.

Michter’s 25 Year Old Rye

This is the most allocated of Michter’s limited production items. This 25 Year-Old Rye, subject to the costly evaporation of a quarter century of “Angel’s Share,” continues the Michter’s tradition of sparing no expense in striving to produce the finest whiskey possible.
