Kid-Friendly Breweries in Arizona

While the idea of a brewery being kid-friendly may seem outlandish, it’s become more common than you think. Especially in this current era of craft brewing and modern family-rearing, more and more brewhouse and pub-style restaurants and bars are becoming accommodating to parents who want a little boozier outing while their family is in tow, particularly in Arizona. So here are a few of these places in Phoenix and Tucson where the parents can enjoy some specially crafted beers in a fun, relaxing atmosphere and not worry about a babysitter for the night. Just remember to drink responsibly, and enjoy yourself.
OHSO
Outrageous Homebrewer’s Social Outlet, or OHSO for short, is one of the best family-friendly breweries in the area. Located in the Paradise Valley part of Phoenix, OHSO offers a full-service restaurant in addition to the spirits and beers they personally create. But that’s to be expected from any brewery/distillery combination; what sets OHSO apart from the crowd is the comfortable outdoor, pet-friendly patio and several yard games like ping pong and more. So while the parents can get a taste of a strictly adult activity, older kids aren’t left out of things to do and places to sit.
McFate
Another good brewery for a group outing is McFate, out in South Scottsdale. The second of the two McFate brew houses, both specializing in beers that have Scottsdale raving and clamoring for more. Specifically, the South Scottsdale location has outdoor seating for the beautiful, cooler days in Arizona and invite dog owners to bring their pups along for the exceptionally large patio. Also available outdoors for your brewery entertainment are cornhole boards, and a beer garden.
The Perch
If you’re after a truly unique experience, take a trip out to Chandler, Arizona and drop by The Perch Brewery. They offer craft beers and a rotating selection of house beers in addition to a full dinner menu, but the real draw is the atmosphere. The Perch is themed around a collection of 50 exotic rescue birds, all brightly colored and visible to guests. The birds are a passion project by the owners, and are usually collected from people who bought them but were unable to care for such a pet. The Perch is truly unique, where flights are both about beer and feathers.
North Mountain Brewing
Family owned and operated is probably the best identifier for anywhere you want to go that’s family-friendly, and that’s exactly how one would describe North Mountain Brewing. Located directly in Phoenix and owned by a native, North Mountain Brewing is focused on providing the authentic brewhouse-pub atmosphere, down to the food, which they call beer-centric because it’s specifically created to be enjoyed along their wide beer selection. But don’t let that dissuade you from making it a family outing, as their menu also includes several kid-friendly options from pizzas to mac and cheese. They’re accustomed to large parties, so consider North Mountain for your next big get-together.
Barrio Brewing Co
With twenty-seven years under their belt, the owners of the Barrio Brewing Co is a Tucson fixture for beer & dining. Offering a wide selection of their own beers, Barrio also has complimentary food, like burgers and fries, with both kid-friendly fare and the adult-oriented beer battered variety. The staff is notable for being especially accommodating for kids, so parents need not worry about finding a place to have a beer with the family in tow. Barrio even has a novelty train that speeds along on tracks in front of the brewery, with flashing lights and a locomotive noise that is exciting to see, and even offer happy hour prices on drinks in the event it stops on the track.
