Time to get yo spice on.
Pomegranate Habanero Margarita
First off.
I suck at spicy. (I know, I'm a terrible Asian) It's just not my thing. I want it to be my thing. And then when I try, I suffer in my attempts. But when I was at the grocery store gathering ingredients, I looked at these little habaneros, I was all like, psh, these are too damn cute to be that bad. I got this.
Ha. I so did not. Silly Bex. You're an idiot. Yes. Noted. Moving on.
So.
Already sucking at spicy, you can use your deductive reasoning to figure out what came next. Correct, it did not go over too well when I was conducting my first round of this cocktail. I might have slightly regretted my decisions. And I might have slightly died.
But then I thought about all you firey chicas and chicos out there. And thought about you sitting on the couch with no spicy margarita in hand. And the thought of someone not having a cocktail when they could have a cocktail, made me sad. And so I realized that I could do this. I got over it. Reseted my tastebuds. And tried again. Played with a couple more variations and worked with some different levels to get it to where it was that kick of refreshness rather than being trampled by fire.
So yeah. There you go. That's all I got. A habanero pomegranate margarita! My pain for your pleasure. Okay, little dramatic. But maybe that's just my theater side coming out.
Let's concoct:
- 1.5 oz Tequila
- 1 oz Cointreau
- 0.5 oz Pama (Pomegranate Liqueur)
- 0.5 oz Lime
- 0.25 oz Agave
- 1 to 2 Small Slice(s) of a Habanero (little goes a long way. If you want to be dangerous, that's your call)
* Muddle habanero slice(s) and lime. And in rest of ingredients and shake with ice. Fine strain into a rocks glass with a salted rim and fresh ice. (Bonus: Keep things crazy by doing a salt rim consisting of salt with grated lime zest) Garnish with a lime slice and habanero on a pick.
If you want to give it a go, you'll need...
