She was the second woman appointed to the United States Supreme Court and works tirelessly to promote justice, but at last month’s State of the Union, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg appeared to be getting quite bored of politics. The 81-year-old was spotted nodding off while President Obama was speaking—and now we know she wasn't just sleepy, but a bit tipsy too.

During a talk at George Washington University recently, the Supreme Court Justice revealed the reason she could not keep her eyes open during the SOTU, reportedly saying, “I wasn’t 100 percent sober.”

Obviously, Ginsburg was not to blame in this situation. She was under the influence of a “fine California wine” that Justice Anthony Kennedy brought to dinner before the speech, and she couldn’t resist having some, saying, “the dinner was so delicious, it needed wine.”

We can totally understand that. And, frankly, Notorious RBG can do whatever she wants.
