Summertime cocktails, and National Tequila Day

Surely, somewhere in the world’ the weather is temperate, cool even.
Not in the U.S., though.
Combatting the heat just starts with a little imagination … and a glass, and some ice. See where I’m going with this?
Take, let’s say, brandy, which typical for wintertime cocktails, and give it a summer twist.
E&J Peach Brandy, which is aged in American oak barrels, and Camarena Tequila, offer a couple of options this summer. By the way, National Tequila Day is Wednesday, July 24. Salud!
Brandy
Peach Palmer:
- 1 part E&J Peach
- 1 part Iced Tea
- 1 part Lemonade
Shake, pour into a cocktail glass, add ice and garnish with a lime wedge
Peach Sidecar:
- 2 parts E&J Peach
- 1 part Lemon Juice
- 1 part Triple Sec
Shake, pour into a cocktail glass, add ice and garnish with an orange peel
Tequila
Camarena is made with 100% blue weber agave in the Jalisco’s Arandas Highlands and distilled through a proprietary method that blends traditional ovens and modern techniques, its makers say.
Camarena Cocktails
Camarena margarita:
- 2 parts Camarena Silver
- .75 parts Simple Syrup/Agave Nectar
- .75 parts Lime Juice
- .5 parts Triple Sec
Add ingredients into a shaker filled with ice and shake vigorously. Strain into a glass filled with ice. Garnish with lime wedge.
Camarena Paloma:
- 2 parts Camarena Silver
- 4 parts Grapefruit Soda
- .5 parts Lime Juice
- Pinch of salt
Add ingredients into a Collins glass filled with ice and stir together to combine. Garnish with lime wheel and sprig of mint.
