The Guna Guna Cocktail

Five readers love this post.
The Guna Guna is my latest Tiki style cocktail installment which I created. Guna Guna means black magic in Indonesian. For those of us who are overjoyed by simplicity and innovation, I assure you this lends itself to both. The cocktail has wonderful bitter and fruity tones and in between layers of herbal and citrus tones and notes of spice. The orgeat marries the ingredients together providing that coat of tounge mouthfeel and the Batavia Arrack (an indonesian style cane spirit) has a funky floral profile which stand up to the other bold flavors. Lastly best part of the Guna Guna is it's made with equal parts. Sip Sip and Away. Cheers
The Guna Guna Cocktail
3/4 oz Batavia Arrack
3/4 oz Fernet Branca
3/4 oz Giffard peach liqueur
3/4 oz house-made orgeat syrup
3/4 oz fresh lemon juice
- Angostura bitters float
- mint sprig garnish
Combine all ingredients except bitters in mixing tin with ice; shake moderately. Fine strain into a 12oz pilsner glass or tiki mug and add crushed ice. Add Angostura bitters float (about 1/8oz). Garnish with mint sprig and enjoy. Sip Sip and Away!
