The Patrón bottle may be instantly recognizable, but the Art of Patrón Contest invites artists everywhere to turn the icon into something completely new—for a chance to win big. The contest encourages innovative designs. Past submissions include everything from sculptures to chandeliers, all made with empty bottles.

The contest is open to anyone age 21 and up, and after the April 30 deadline, 25 semi-finalists will be selected by a panel of judges to have their submissions posted online. At that point, 10 finalists will be selected by a public vote and receive a $1,000 prize. One grand prize winner will receive $10,000—and some great exposure.

To enter, participants must create a work of visual or functional art that uses or depicts any Patrón bottle. Then, after registering to be a Patrón Social Club member, artists can enter the contest by submitting a photo of their work and a 50-word essay describing the inspiration behind it at ArtofPatron.com.

There are dozens—if not hundreds—of ways to reuse old liquor bottles, so it’s anyone’s guess what these artists will come up with. Last year’s winner was Brandon Montgomery, who created a coffee table he called the Batalla de los Espiritus, featuring Patrón bottles as the legs and a chess board table top with mini Patrón bottles as the pieces. The table also features a second table top with the Patrón logo that we can only assume is where you put your Margarita while you play chess.
