Run out into your own garden on Earth Day to celebrate the occasion with freshly made cocktails and locally sourced ingredients…before it’s too late!

The most recent scientific studies reveal that our planet is indeed changing at a rapid pace, and should be celebrated, protected, and preserved at all costs. Personally, I’d like to take the optimistic approach to the topic and believe that it’s not too late reverse climate change. So, this Earth Day, join me in making drinks in home with herbs and fruits from your local farmers market, your back yard, or your roof top. Mother Nature will thank you for it.

Heat Reversal_2

Heat Reversal

1.5 ounces Cap Rock Organic gin

¼ cup organic blackberries

1 organic Habanero seed

¼ ounces organic lime juice

½ ounce organic simple syrup

2 ounces club soda (optional)

Habanero garnish

Blackberry garnish

Simple Syrup Directions

Combine one cup of organic sugar with one cup of water in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat, then reduce the heat to low and allow the syrup to simmer ten to twenty more minutes. Remove from the stove and set aside to cool before using.

Cocktail Directions
Slice open a Habanero pepper and remove one seed. Add the gin to a martini shaker and gently muddle the seed in the gin until the desired heat is reached. It will get “hot” quickly! Remove the seed from the gin. In a separate container, muddle the blackberries in the lime juice and simple syrup. Once all of the blackberries have been mashed, strain the mixture into the gin. Add ice and shake. Strain into a martini glass, or a bucket glass filled with ice.

Climate Cooler_2

Climate Cooler

2 ounces 123 Tequila Blanco Organic

1.5 ounces organic tangerine juice, freshly squeezed and strained

½ ounce organic lemon juice

½ ounce organic simple syrup (optional)

1 stem organic mint leaves

Directions

Muddle the mint leaves in the tequila until the tequila turns light green. Strain the mixture into a martini shaker filled with ice. Add the organic tangerine juice, lemon juice, and simple syrup, then shake. Strain into a martini glass, or a bucket glass filled with ice.

Nature's Nectar_4

Nature’s Nectar

1.5 ounces Ballast Point Three Sheets Rum

1 ounce organic sweet and sour

1 ounce organic grapefruit juice

½ inch fresh organic rosemary

Grapefruit slice garnish

Rosemary sprig garnish

Directions

In a martini shaker, gently press the rosemary in the rum. It doesn’t take much to release the rosemary oils into the rum, so you may only need to press once or twice. Strain the rum into a martini shaker filled with ice. Add the organic sweet and sour and organic grapefruit juice. Shake well, then strain into a martini glass or rocks glass filled with ice.
