New cocktail bars in New York are sprouting up all the time. They come in all shapes and sizes, ranging from hotel bars, tiny basement level parlours, to spacious large-format restaurants. In case you missed them, here’s a round up of new and noteworthy cocktail destinations worth visiting.

New Cocktail Bars
The Gilroy
Upper East Siders, rejoice! You have an incredible new addition to the neighborhood complete with quality cocktails and casual dining in a relaxed, approachable setting. If you love a good negroni, you’ll love this bar. In addition to serving up classics and house cocktails, you can also try one of their 8 negroni variations including a barrel-aged variation for two. Dress to impress and make a night out of it at the Monarch Room located in the Meatpacking District. The Monarch Room is more of a restaurant, but definitely has a trendy bar scene complete with oysters, razor clams and gnocchi. Yum! Nitecap, a new cocktail bar on the Lower East Side, is the work of bartenders from Death & Co and Maison Premiere (read: serious bartender pedigree). This basement level cocktail den is dark and cozy, perfect for an intimate date or catch up with an old friend. The space seats about 40 and starts to fill up around 8. Enjoy their expertly crafted house cocktails, beer and shots, wine and sherry, all presented in a playful 18 page menu. Find out more about this awesome bar.
The Peacock
Located inside the William Hotel and a few blocks away from Grand Central Station, the Peacock offers a restaurant and garden in the back and two parlors that are perfect for enjoying a cocktail or two. The sophisticated decor is tasteful, but not overdone. You’ll feel right at home here whether you’re a guest of the hotel or looking to take a business meeting. The bar serves the classics and also has a special whiskey cocktail menu. If you’re hungry, the scotch egg and home made ricotta with toast are some of the best bar snacks around. You might remember this space as the Vault at Pfaff’s, but this basement level is back and better than ever. We’re talking killer cocktails from Tim Cooper (Goldbar) and Justin Noel (1534) served in a loud, social setting that’s perfect for a casual date or group hangout.
