Halloween Cocktail
Four days until Halloween, hasn’t the time flown this year? It seems to get faster and faster. This Halloween orange isn’t the new black. Who gets scared of orange? Go Goth for a truly spectacular show. Voodoo, costumes and a little bit of Black Magic might make this the greatest Halloween ever. And to make it even greater, here are five spooky versions of your favorite Halloween Cocktail worth trying.
Black Magic Martini circa 2013
The updated (2013) Black Magic Cocktail. Mix with Stoli Vanil and Patron Café XO Cafe Dark Cocoa Liqueurto create a velvety chocolate-coffee medley. Top with a cherry and you’ve got adult cocktail candy—all treat, no trick.
Black Magic Martini
1 ¼ oz. Stoli Vanil vodka
1 ½ oz. Patron Café XO (red label)
1 maraschino cherry (garnish – preferably Luxardo brand)
Dry ice (optional)
Add ingredients to shaker with ice and shake. Strain into cocktail glass and garnish with a cherry and toy spider! To create boiling effect, add dry ice according to package directions.
Black Magic turns Black Widow
This is a drink for those of you that love presentation. Elegant and creepy the black liquorish makes the drink! Make sure you get black liquorish that you can separate the strands on. NOTE: Can’t find black vodka? Add a dash of the darkest grape or blackberry juice you can get your hands on for a substitute.
1 ounce Blavod Black Vodka
2 ounces cherry or grape juice
Combine ice, vodka, and cherry/grape juice in a cocktail shaker; shake vigorously. Pour into a martini glass. Add black licorice strings for a creepy black widow drink.
Jack-o’-Lantern Black Magic
In this tasty fall cocktail – Black Magic is revised a little to include…. Drumroll please… PUMPKIN! The Black Magic drink is made from pumpkin pie cream liqueur and Kahlua Pumpkin Spiced Coffee Liqueur and served over ice in an old-fashioned glass. Because what else screams scary more than a little jack o’ Lantern in your magic?
1-1/2 oz Kahlua Pumpkin Spiced Coffee Liqueur
1 oz Fultons Harvest Pumpkin Pie Cream Liqueur
Glass: Old-Fashioned Glass
Fill an old-fashioned glass with ice.
Add the Kahlua coffee liqueur and top with pumpkin pie cream liqueur for a spooky layered drink.
Black Magic Mai Kai
Tropical fruit, coffee liquor and dark rum make this a true witches brew. Plus, one drink will last you an awful long time!
1 ounce fresh-squeezed orange juice
1 ounce fresh-squeezed lime juice
1 ounce grapefruit juice
1 1/2 ounces strong coffee freshly brewed, then chilled
3 ounces Myer’s Original Dark Jamaican Rum
dash cinnamon
dash honey
dash Angostura bitters
* 1/2 teaspoon allspice dram (optional)
Shake all ingredients with ice in a martini shaker, Pour over crushed ice in a large snifter glass. Garnish with a lemon peel.
Original Black Magic Potion
Stir your witches pot with the classic black magic.
2 oz. Absolut Elyx Vodka
1 oz. Kahlua Coffee Liquor
2 drops Lemon juice
Fill old-fashioned glass with ice. Add Vodka and Kahlua and Lemon Juice. Stir well.
