There are some scientists who claim the Big Bang, the cosmic event that spawned the entire universe (including reality show contestants), occurred in the month of March. Making this the birth month of pretty much everything.

Are they right? And how can they possibly pinpoint to an exact month an event that happened 13.82 billion years ago? Especially when there were no calendars or smart phones or bloggers around to record it? Who knows… those guys in the lab coats are a helluva lot smarter than we are. And, besides, who cares? We've got a cocktail for you that celebrates the event—and do you really want to argue with an excuse to raise a glass? Exactly. So grab a martini glass, mix up a Cosmic Spice, and wish the universe a happy 13.82 billionth.

Basil Hayden's Cosmic Spice

Ingredients:
2 parts BasilHayden’s® Bourbon
1 SerranoPepper (or Jalapeño Pepper)
3/4 partsSimple Syrup
3/4 parts LimeJuice
5 Blackberries

Method:

1.Muddle pepper and blackberries in a mixingglass.

2.Add remaining ingredients with ice and shake.

3.Fine strain into a martini glass.

4.Light small orange peel on fire and drop intothe glass.
