A Hot Toddy a Day Keeps the Doctor Away

Although it’s technically spring here in New York, it doesn’t quite yet feel like it. So until Mother Nature catches spring fever, warm up with a Hot Toddy.

Traditionally this cocktail is made using only whisky, lemon juice and honey. Putting my own spin on it, I boiled down apples, cinnamon, lemon juice and raw honey to create a mulled cider that I then mixed with whisky.

My friends described my drink as warm and inviting, with a nice balance of sweetness and alcohol. My friend Scott’s only complaint about the drink was that he “never wanted to let it go.”

And not only is a Hot Toddy delicious, it is good for you too. The honey soothes your throat and is great for your immune system, the lemons and apples provide vitamin c, and the whisky makes you sleep like a baby.

So whether you’re suffering from a common cold or a case of the Mondays, we’ve got your prescription:

One dose whisky

One dose lemon juice

One dose honey

Mix and enchoi.
