Absinthe: The Living Legend Review

Zero readers love this post.
This book; written by Marie-Claude Delahaye; to introduce new-comers of alcohol spirits of A-Z and what better “A” to start with is the spirit known as Absinthe. An alcoholic beverage with a long vintage history and and a very retro background that explores its early origins, its unique recipes and its controversial banishment from the world.
This book is a great addition to be a part of a bartender’s library because it shows great attention-to-detail of Absinthe as Delahaye explains almost every aspect known to the world about this mythical drink.
The writer explores the innocent beginnings as a medical remedy; which is common in most spirits such as gin; the explosive popularity across Europe and America; and how its made. She also goes into detail about how the alcoholic beverage was banished for over 100 years and only recent has the ban been lifted in parts of the world. Many more included such as the traditionalistic ritual and the instruments to prepare Absinthe.
The author has included photographs from the past and present; and vintage posters of Absinthe advertisements that Absinthe enthusiasts could only dream of having.
I enjoyed this book because to know how to make great drinks is to start knowing your alcoholic beverages like a chefs knowing their ingredients. The alcoholic beverage to start is to work through the alphabet from A-Z, starting with Absinthe.
Thanks for reading
