On this date in 1964, Ford Motor Company launched the iconic Mustang at the New York World’s fair. Styled and designed by John Najjar Ferzely, Philip T. Clark, Joe Oros, it was initially based on the Ford Falcon platform, and ushered in a class of “pony cars”: sport cars with long hoods and comparatively shorter rears. Though it has gone through several body style changes over it’s now 50 year history, the Mustang remains a popular choice among muscle car fans to this day.
