Angostura Unveils Amaro Di Angostura

When you think bitters, you think Angostura, simultaneously, when you think Angostura, you think bitters. This year the House Of Angostura, which resides in Trinidad & Tobago and are leading bitters makers, celebrated their 190th anniversary. To commemorate the milestone, they introduced Amaro Di Angostura.

Last month, thirsty revelers gathered at The Parlor at Clover Club as House of Angostura ambassadors, Daniyel Jones and David Delaney Jr. (pictured), unveiled the new spirit. Guests were among the first in New York to try the spirit alongside cocktails and hors d’oeuvres.

Though the recipe is a secret, we can tell you that aromatic Angostura Bitters, a neutral spirit, and spices were left to sit for three months, the final product resulting in a spiced herbal liqueur, incomparable to anything else.

The deep amber colored liqueur has aromas of cinnamon, dark chocolate, and Angostura Aromatic Bitters. Warm cinnamon and licorice notes are distinct on the palate leaving you with an exotic warming taste, reminiscent of the beautiful tropical climate in which it was produced.

Fortunately, you don’t have to travel to the Caribbean to experience the Amaro Di Angostura. It can already be found both neat and in cocktails at some of our favorite haunts like Clover Club, Donna, Boilermaker, Cienfuegos, and Trattoria Il Mulino just to name a few and can be found wherever fine spirits are sold in New York, Illinois and California. It has a Suggested Retail Price of of $24.99 and is bottled at a generous 35% alcohol by volume.

Amaro lovers rejoice!
