Art Beyond the Glass is now 8 years old! The bartender showcase featuring not just cocktails but music and art returns this Sunday, June 23 to Los Globos in Silver Lake. Get your tickets today before it sells out! This year’s host are Ria Soler and Josh Gelfend (Bay Area).

Art Beyond the Glass donates part of the ticket sales to a different charity every year. This year’s non-profit partner is Beautify Earth.
This organization connects artists to blank walls in neighborhoods that need a little color and art to brighten them up! Some might call it organized street art. Some call it community pride. Beautify Earth also develops artist talent and encourage social responsibility.
At Art Beyond the Glass which has championed artists, you can also purchase art from bartenders. I still cherish my print I got a few years back of my Pineapple People. Be sure to stop by the ABTG Local Artist Room to check out work from Peter Lloyd Jones (Everson Royce Bar), Anna Wingfield (Employees Only), Joel Martinez (Madam Siam) and many more!
ABTG has donated almost $175,000 in the previous 7 years to cultural nonprofits.
Now that I’ve gone to ABTG at Los Globos a few times, here are some of my tips:
- It’ll be hot!! Drink plenty of water!
- There will be food from Guelaguetza, Tartine and Prime Pizza but I highly suggest eating before and after as well. There is a lot of booze, pace yourself!
- Speaking of which, please ride share!
- Wear closed toed shoes. Los Globos is two stories and has some dark staircases. Be careful as the floors could be wet from spilled drinks.
- Tickets are $70 online or $75 at the door (if available).
I’m really interested in this year’s Media Lounge for podcasters and instagrammers (hey, what about bloggers??)! Sweet & Chilli is the sponsor of this lounge.
Last year Fords Gin had this American Revolution theme… they were somewhat amused when I asked them to sing some Hamilton.
But for the real musical arts, be sure to stop by the Jack Daniel’s stage. You never know who’ll perform (*cough* burlesaque *cough*)!
See you on Sunday?
