Bar tools - Who the hell is designing this stuff?

Two readers love this post.
Do you ever come across faulty bar equipment at work and say to yourself “there is no way this [insert bar tool here] was designed by bartenders?” Well, it happens to us a lot. In fact, this is one of the driving forces behind our start-up company – Crew Bottle Co.
Hi fellow bartenders. My name is Kyle. Although I am new to the reddit community, I’ve been a bartender for nearly a decade. I’m a long-time member of the United States Bartenders’ Guild and I’m currently volunteering as an ambassador for the non-profit CORE: Children or Restaurant Employees. I’ll admit I’m not the best bartender, but I’ve had the opportunity to travel and tend bar in some really great cities like New Orleans, Columbus, Chicago and Los Angeles. If there’s one thing I’ve learned it’s that there is always more to learn.
As you may have noticed, the companies that sell us barware don’t particularly empathize with the bartending community, nor do they make an attempt to understand the tools we need to execute successful bar programs. More so, most available products are failing to address important issues of waste reduction and sustainability in bars and restaurants. The industry has certainly evolved over the years, and although I still find myself explaining that bartending is my “real job,” this conversation has taken a backseat to questions such as “can you help me make bitters for my party?” That said, there is still a lot of room for improvement. Bartenders are inherent problem solvers and our company believes solutions can, and should, come from those that work behind the stick.
If you could please spare a little time (roughly 7 minutes) to take the survey posted below we would REALLY appreciate it. We’re using the results to develop products by bartenders for bartenders, so your opinion is extremely valuable to us.
Please note, we are not going to ask you what company you work for. We’re only interested in honest feedback to help identify areas of opportunity within our industry.
