Basil & Cucumber, Gin Cocktail Recipe

There’s nothing better than cracking open an ice cold beer on a hot day…but as much as we love beer, sometimes a bottle or a can just won’t do. Sometimes, you just need a cocktail. Maybe you’re in the mood to muddle something. Maybe you’re looking to ramp up your bartending skills. Maybe you’re inviting friends over and hoping to impress. Or hey, maybe you’re just in the mood to drink alone—don’t worry, we won’t judge. It’s all about mixing up what you need when you need it.

Tired of the same old tequila and whiskey cocktails you’ve been drinking since college? Ready to find something new to quench your thirst? It’s time to expand your mind, broaden your booze horizons, and meet your new best friend—GIN.

Gin is not just for grandmas and grandpas anymore. It’s not just for making James Bond-inspired martinis. We’re loving gin for all of its complexities and interesting flavors—and it combines so well with so many mixers that we’re finding new drinks we love all the time. If you’re looking for a cool, refreshing cocktail to chill you out on a hot summer day, the Basil & Cucumber Gin Cocktail is it.

The Basil & Cucumber Gin Cocktail:

Step 1 : Muddle the Cucumber and Basil

Step 2: Add the Gin

Step 3: Add the Simple Syrup

Step 4: Squeeze half a lime in there

Step 5: Add Ice and SHAKE!

Step 6: Pour Over Ice

Step 7 : Top Off with Soda and Garnish with Basil

The Specifics:

  • 1 oz Gin
  • 1 oz Simple Syrup
  • 1 oz Club Soda
  • Half a Lime
  • 5 Slices of Cucumber
  • 5 Leaves of Basil

Bar Tips: If you’re making a large batch of cocktails and it is impractical to shake or stir a drink with ice, then add water to your mix of alcohol and juices. A good guideline is to total up the volume of liquid in the cocktail, and add a ¼ of that total of water to the drink mix. This will add the proper level of dilution that’s achieved by shaking or stirring a drink. Remember, water is always a cocktail ingredient.
