Winter is not an exciting time for anything that is fresh - the lack of produce in the farmers markets can get a bit depressing.

But there is one bright spot, and it's a perfect one for cocktails: citrus. And among citrus one of the most exciting ingredients is the blood orange. It's specific taste and beautiful color make it dynamo for drinks.

So we went to Masa y Agave where John D. McCarthy showed his recipes for two cocktails to make with the best of winter fruits.
