Bombay are at it again, retaining their reputation for creativity and style with the release last month of Bombay Amber.

True to its name, this newest expression in the Bombay gin range (Dry, Sapphire, Sapphire East) see’s the classic eight botanicals of the Dry combined with the addition of nutmeg, black cardamom and bitter orange. Greater still is the influence of a gentle oak maturation from ex French vermouth barrels.

The final product is bottled at a full flavoured 47% abv replacing the iconic stocky square bottle of previous Bombay gins with a curved chrome and frosted glass bottle with wooden stopper.

While brands like Seagram’s have been producing an oak rested gin for many years, the practice is more commonly associated with gins mother spirit genever where expressions can be matured for up to 12 years of age.

Bottles of Bombay Amber can be purchased for around GBP£26.00 or USD$44.00 and is currently exclusive to Singapore, Sydney, Las Vegas, Toronto and Heathrow airports. Yet another example that all the coolest spirits are found in Travel Retail.
