This is not an original recipe. The Mint Julep has been around for ages. It originated in the south and is specifically known as the drink of choice during the Kentucky Derby. I always thought that the drink was a light and easy to drink cocktail. The ice melts into the bourbon and mint simple syrup so it’s not as strong as you may think but it’s still a sippin’ drink. It’s a classic drink that you should definitely know how to make, especially during derby time.
