Zero readers love this post.
I've had such a positive experience at Wild Goose Tavern i n Costa Mesa. I can't emphasize how nice the people here and I think the sausage dogs are super yummy! They have a big selection of whiskeys, especially American whiskeys. So, please make the time to get here and support this place! Oh, yeah, they have craft beer here, but I didn't really pay attention because I <3 whisky. Hehe
BREAKING AND ENTERING AT A GLANCE
Region: USA
Style: Bourbon
Breaking and Entering; 86 Proof
This is a bourbon that's from St. George Spirits. The mixture of the juice ranges from 5-7 years of age from Kentucky, and they brought a few hundred barrels from Kentucky and brought it back to Alameda, California. Pretty cool! I guess they mixed all of the whiskeys and made some minor changes to it. :D
Nose (Neat): Grassy Aroma. When it sits in the glass for 5 minutes, the aroma gets sweet, giving a tahitian vanilla and macadamia profile. On my fingers, the bourbon has the aroma of a penny and a wet barrel. The aroma is stunning and it makes me smile. It starts to develop even more, giving a coconut profile 15 minutes later.
Flavour (Neat): Kind of reminds me of an Eagle Rare. It's light and has a grassy tone. The flavour definitely is different from the aroma, which isn't a bad thing. It's fun to see that happen! There's a savory overtone. A tingle of metal that causes my tongue to salivate. By the way, I learned that American oak barrels will give a wet sensation on your tongue. It's a mellow, laid back drink. I think if you like this, you'll like Eagle Rare. Although it's high in proof it doesn't appear to have any spice. I usually prefer something with heat and spice, but I think this is a nice change. So, I don't have anything negative to say about this whisky. It's good! :D
Finish: Tingling sensation with an overtone of orange peals. Quite a nice finish!
