Bunnahabhain 18 Year Tasting Note

Two readers love this post.
Islay whisky never tasted so good. So my girlfriend and I are very fortunate to not only have this great love and passion for whisky but also that we have jobs where we can afford the finer things in life. By finer I mean whisky of course. We have the bunnahabhain 12 year at home, which is a simple classic of what islay whisky is all about. Then we tried the 25 year. So for the most part it never made sense to try the 18 year. But something deep inside last night made me want to give this one a try, and I was more than happy to have made that decision. I truly believe this is what Islay whisky is supposed to taste like. Elegant, captivating, sweet, complex, rich and spicy.
Name: Bunnahabhain 18 year Single Malt Scotch
Region: Islay, Scotland
Nose: Light toffee and salted caramel with coffee cacao nibs and brown sugar
Palate: Cinnamon, nuts and sweet custard. Its not too spicy and very pleasant.
Finish: Long spicy nutty finish, has a sherry on the finish as well. A few minutes later finishes off with raisins and sea salt.
Score: 90
