I’ve never been the type that needs a glass of wine every night…or even every time I go out to dinner. But, I enjoy a wine tasting event as much as the next gal (or guy). And I, like you, probably can’t imagine all of the fun of summer—picnics, pool parties, concerts on the beach—without at least one or two yummy, fresh, delicious, frosty cocktails! I hear, “Hawaii,” and think Lava Flows. And I can’t help but reminisce about a week I once spent sailing in the Bahamas enjoying those delicious Bahama Mamas aside tons of fresh lobster. Heck if I’ll go boating without craving a margarita on those sunny, relaxing, summer afternoons.
But we’ve all heard how chock full of sugar those icy drinks are—and that they often contain 500 (or more) calories each! Well, you’ll be happy to know that I have the perfect solution, and it doesn’t involve icky powdered packets of artificial sweeteners laced with alcohol. Nope. My Devinly Cocktails are much better tasting… and much better for you!
My cocktail makeovers employ fruit as the star. These mouthwatering beverages help you get more nutrient-packed fruit in your diet. That fruit contains fiber, so you’ll get fuller faster than when drinking the empty sugar calories that these favorites usually contain. I also use natural sweeteners that won’t spike your blood sugar the way simple syrups will. And then I do, of course, add in the alcohol for good measure. So sit back, relax, and stock up on your fresh fruit to enjoy these delicious summer cocktails like my Frozen Blueberry Margarita (below), Punched-Up Pina Colada, Heart-Healthy Sangria, and Skinny Shirley. They’ll keep you looking sexy for summer and beyond!
