3 Classic Drinks with a Skinny Twist!

Recipes provided by Jordan Catapano

One of the most popular New Year’s resolutions for Americans is to lose weight. Some people set small goals, like to shed those extra five to ten extra pounds gained during the holiday season, before the swimsuit season arrives. Others have extreme weight loss plans to counter impending health issues. According to the US Department of Agriculture, “the average daily calorie intake increased by 24.5 percent, or about 350 calories, between 1970 and 2000.” Imagine what that intake has increased to in 2016!

To reduce one’s caloric consumption while still maintaining a balance in your diet, try these famous cocktails with a few easy adjustments. Carefully measure your alcohol, and swap zero-calorie sodas for those regular soda cans full of empty calories. Add extra lime or lemon juice, as it will only cost you a few extra calories but can really brighten up your beverage. Lastly, limit yourself to one cocktail. If you’re out for drinks after work or entertaining at home, switch to club soda with lime to stay on track with your weight-loss goals. Changes in diet can seem difficult, but once you try these simple recipes you’ll realize that you’re not missing anything at all.
