The SOS Tiki Bar Pina Colada

It’s not often that you stumble upon a tiki bar while walking through a dimly lit alley in downtown Decatur. Okay, maybe said alley wasn’t that dimly lit, and I was familiar with The SOS Tiki Bar long before stumbling upon it, but you get the idea.

Pina coladas, daiquiris, and other tropics-inspired concoctions are high on my list of favorite cocktails, so I wanted to visit The SOS Tiki Bar as soon as I received word that the bar would be replacing Paper Plane.

Also, they have a daily Happy Hour special, which features various punches, so my enthusiasm was heightened even more. I assumed their Happy Hour punches would feature solely rum, but the punch of the day when I stopped by featured cognac as the main spirit. It was the “Beach Cobbler,” and was made using cognac, sherry, raspberry, lemon, sugar, and soda. I can’t say I was a fan. It wasn’t bad, just not my speed.

I did enjoy their pina colada, which was only $5. FIVE FRIGGIN’ DOLLARS.
