Tuesday, September 29th. Today's date, as you all know, is National Coffee Day and here at Shake, Strain & Sip, and we would be distraught if we didn't take the time to celebrate this wondrous occasion. OK, well, in all honesty I'm sure most of us can admit we had no idea what today was until we glanced at the cute latte with the leaf foam pic while flipping through instagram... Everyday is "National Something Day" but hell, who are we to complain? It's just as good of an excuse as any to make a drink to celebrate it, right?
It must have been providence anyhow, since I had a pot of cold brew sittin' in the fridge for the last week and I was just about to throw it out. Apparently cold brew is the hot thing right now, and I'll admit it; it's pretty bad-ass. Plus, I haven't used my now extinct bottle of Deco Coffee rum since the Maten Kafe Flip post from like 2 years ago. And I live in Washington, where coffee is like the second most consumed thing next to some hydroponic-ized ganja (don't worry folks, this is a drug-free blog).
Either way, basically I love coffee. so, here's a drink with it. Happy National Coffee Day. Cheers.
Killer Cold Brew
0.75 oz Bourbon or Rye (I used rye in the pic, but we liked bourbon as well)
0.75 oz Deco Coffee Rum (Now Below Deck Coffee Rum)
0.5 oz Averna Amaro
0.75 oz Cold Brewed Coffee
0.75 oz Cream
0.5 oz Vanilla Syrup
Freshly Grated Cinnamon for Garnish
Combine ingredients over ice. Shake ad strain into an iced filled rocks glass. Garnish and enjoy.
