A Discussion Panel And Curated Craft Spirits Tasting
Industry Denver’s launch last October was inspired by the energy of last year’s Denver Startup Week in its inaugural week of seminars, presentations, key note speakers, and business aids. Industry Denver, which began conception in February 2012 as a marketing ploy for Charlie Palmer’s District Meats, was rebranded and developed as a community resource early that same summer. A question was posed to Jim Pittenger of Biker Jim’s Gourmet Dogs in a discussion panel, “When did you know you were ready to launch in your point in development?” to which Jim would give an honest and inspiring answer, “If you launch and you aren’t f*cking up, you have waited too long.” Kyle Dill, founder of Industry Denver took that piece of advice and a week later would post the first Industry Denver blog post – a post that would lead Kyle into a mission of communitizing the industry of food and beverage across America.
This year for Denver Startup Week, Kyle has proposed a discussion panel that will give local startups the opportunity for inspiration and a chance for a variety of artisan spirits producers to tell the stories that have inspired and continue to evolve their brands.

A cross-tracked Denver Startup Week event blending Manufacturing with Design, Industry Denver invites a variety of Colorado craft distilleries to the discussion panel to share the stories behind their brand and the process that created it. Brand development moderator Kyle Dill of Industry America Media and EtOH Strategies will touch into the creation of their brands and their evolution through the varying stages of growth. Chuck Sullivan, co-founder of Something Independent, instigator of Startup Week’s Manufacturing Track, and conductor of DSTILL, brings it back to the fact that while distilling is often described as equal parts art & science, artisanal spirit producers are classified manufacturers — making shit that people enjoy.
The panel is composed of an eclectic mix of local distilleries from industry veterans like Breckenridge Distillery (Breckenridge) and Downslope Distilling (Centennial) to first-year releasing all-stars like Feisty Spirits (Fort Collins) and J&L Distilling (Boulder). Questions will be answered in moderation throughout the discussion followed by a full Q&A after the discussion. Hosted by Zeppelin Development’s TAXI community space, we encourage you to stay and join us for conversation over cocktails.
Eric Elkins of Widefoc.us will open the discussion panel with an introduction about establishing your voice and developing a strategy for targeted, branded outreach media in the community. Enjoy a drink on Eric upon your prompt entry at 7:00 pm, he’s got the first round of cocktails. As the creation of a quality spirit begins with a quality water source, Kishu Charcoal’s Judith Bershof will be providing insight into creating a supply of clean drinking water for the home. We hope that you will join us for DISTILLING THE BRAND and that we inspire an idea that helps grow your business and brand.
