2013 unveiled a wave of liquor and fashion brand collaborations that you won't secretly covet; they are just too awesome. These products speak to consumers in a way that is analogous to a great cocktail: combining seemingly disparate elements into something great—and extend their branding to a wider market. Arguably, this concept was pioneered by Absolut Vodka with their Artist Bottle Series featuring luminaries that include Andy Warhol and Keith Haring, and with their annually presented Absolut Art Award.

This year, there were some truly fascinating collaborations that elevated a pretty bottle to a collector's dream come true. In celebration, I present the first (and possibly last) Liquor.com Award for Spirited Design to the following:

1. Best Use of Camouflage: Disaronno x maharishi x Bagjack

Disaronno x Maharishi x BagJack

Wait? Is that a cozy? Who dreamed up teaming Berlin's BackJack with London's pattern powerhouse maharishi? Further, why does Disaronno even need a cozy? None of these questions actually matter as in the end it works. Notice the pen??! Can someone tell me what the zipper is for? It doesn't matter. You just want this.

2. Best Use of Wood: The Bushmills x Grado Labs Headphones:

Recycling the wood of spirit barrels has been something that has been done for a while. It's everywhere: from furniture, to coasters, to flooring (seriously). However, these headphones made by Grado are possibly the best use of recycled barrel wood that I have ever seen. Functionally, Grado makes some very good, distinctive headphones; the matching leather (please let it be Horween) band is the coup de grâce.

3. Best Bottle Collaboration: Pernod Absinthe and Maison Kitsuné

Limited to 1,000 bottles in the US and 10,000 bottles Worldwide, this bottle will be very hard to get your hands on—but don't let that stop you from trying. If you do manage to snag one, it's a timeless keepsake. It comes with a record, and vinyl is making a comeback—or so I have been told. Regardless, Kitsuné's fox is pretty awesome looking and the dots call to mind Van Gogh's Starry Night which draws a circle back to Absinthe Myths, so it has that going for it as well.

What collaborations do you think are worthy of an award? Know of anything coming up that we should be aware of? Let us know.
