Dear fellas, drink enthusiasts and fine potions connoisseurs I'm delighted to be once again part of the greatest cocktail competition Diageo World Class!
Now I would like you to get cozy and step inside my world.
At first I will light an aromatic stick for the journey to come (unfortunately you won't be able to feel the fine scent that would surround you).
Our story begins in 1845 when a shipment of Tanqueray arrives in Japan.
Among the stalls full of spices and fine silks there's a wandering alchemist, one of the few remaining, known as Zen Man.
While browsing the goods he stumbles upon a strange looking bottle. The bottle doesn't look like much, but the liquid within traps the alchemist's attention. In that instant Zen Man knew that was exactly the missing piece of his last experiment.
Without a second thought he took the bottle to his apothecary were he was crafting a healing potion.
In the cauldron bursting with the crisp scent of Tanqueray he added the purest chamomile tea available in his realm, the ripest pineapple and mango found in the markets, water from the springs and the highest quality lemons, sugar and rose water. In the end from a shelf he grabbed a dusty bottle labeled orange oleo saccharum.
The resulting elixir had an incredible flavor and aroma, unfortunately it didn't heal anyone, yet the ones who tried his potion seemed invigorated and lively so he started sharing it.
He became renowned in the whole realm and beyond for his hospitality and made himself many, many friends. He did not live forever, nor he turned stones to gold, but he enjoyed a very happy life.
After his death the apothecary was destroyed by fire, many of his secrets lost forever, only a vital part of his original recipe has prevailed.
The drink that I present to you today is a pale shadow of what Zen Man originally brewed, but I hope you will enjoy it just as much.
In honor of his hospitality I'm going to garnish my drink with a piece of pineapple.
