Doesn’t sound tasty but really is: The Brown Derby

Sometimes i feel like whenever I try a new drink it becomes a new favorite. It’s like falling in love with a new person every week, but the best part is that I never get my heart broken and we are never apart for long. I recently broke down and got a bottle of Bulleit Bourbon recently, (after much review reading, and recommendations from multiple sources) I tried it and was pleasently surprised at how easy it is to drink. For the past few days I’ve been drinking it neat or on the rocks, but I’ve added it to the Brown Derby and was seeing stars. An amazing balance of bitter from the grapefruit juice and the sweet honey syrup, mingling pleasently with the Bourbon for a balance that deserves the title of classic. If you want a Bourbon cocktail, order one of these babies and it’ll have you begging for more. I see myself drinking these for years to come, and I can’t wait to start playing around with different spirits in this one. Maybe I already have. ;) here’s how I made mine at home.
- 1.5 oz of Bulliet Bourbon
- .5 oz of honey syrup (1 part honey to one part water)
- 1 oz of Grapefruit juice
Shake over ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass, and as always…enjoy.
