If you spend any time at all on Facebook, I am pretty sure you have seen this little Cherry Bomb floating around on your feed. This is the most simple thing, I could not help but make these. They looked so simple, I couldn’t pass it up.

I just have to say that I am not a huge fan of maraschino cherries. Fresh cherries YES I absolutely love, but jarred cherries, no thank you, I’ll pass. Yet still these were calling my name.

The liquor you choose is up to you. I’ve seen these made with Fireball and vanilla vodka, but I wanted to choose something that I know I love, and something that sounded fresh and summery. One of my most favorites is Malibu rum. What could be more perfect than coconut rum with cherries, so that’s what I used to make these little morsels of delight.

I will also say that this is not one to be eaten if you are counting sugars because I’m pretty sure that this is 100% nothing but sugar. The cherry is sugar, the candy coating is sugar, and the sprinkles are sugar. Weeeeeeeee! Let’s get on a sugar rush! HA!

Boozy Cherries

  • Malibu Rum
  • Maraschino Cherries
  • White Chocolate Chips
  • Blue sprinkles

Drain the cherries and pat dry as best as you can to get as much moisture out of them with paper towels. Place in a bowl and pour Malibu on top of them to coat. Toss and let them soak for a few hours. Drain. (I put the cherry infused Malibu to the side to use for a future drink!) Pat dry gently with a paper towel. Melt chips in the microwave. Prepare a small plate with blue sprinkles. Dip half of the cherry into the white chocolate melt, then into the blue sprinkles and place sprinkle side up to dry on wax paper.

You can do variations of these at Christmas and use green sprinkles. The alcohol content doesn’t seem to be strong at all. Think of this as a fruity version of a rum ball. Make sense?

SO yummy!

And I found a t-shirt that I could wear not only for America’s birthday, but I’ll probably be wearing this all the time. It’s so soft and comfy!

Who is going to be enjoying some fireworks tonight?
