Most of the time when I'm creating a cocktail or study a recipe I'm thinking of ways to compress it or even take out certain ingredients that I think they don't contribute to the overall flavor of the drink. Basically I like to keep my drinks as simple and flavourful as possible. Yet I don't like them to be dull. The flavor needs to last, it has to be like a journey, with layers of flavors smacking your palate one after another and turn on feelings and sensations.
To be able to reach such results you need complex ingredients like bitters, vermouth, infusions, spirits with a headstart (gin, flavored spirits or aged as well) or in this instance tea.
Yes tea is a wonderful ingredient with a lot of potential and the brand's master blender spares you of a lot of effort and foraging or sourcing items that can be really expensive and most of the time found only in bulk.
Now let's put tea to good use:

         Exotic Daiquiri:

Rum 2 oz
Fresh squeezed lime juice 1 oz
Exotic syrup 1 oz
  • Coupe
  • Shake Strain
  • Orange peel
Ok, this is a classic Daiquiri were I swapped the sugar syrup for a tea infused one.
I took a fruit tea, sugar and water and brewed the syrup. Considering that it has to stand up to a good measure of rum and lime as well I infused it for quite a while, but feel free to bring it to the desired intensity. In the end, because the blend contained rose petals I decided to highlight this feature with a bit of rose flower water.
Just imagine the multitude of possibilities when you use tea in drinks, but don't limit yourself to syrups. It can be used to infuse spirits or as a mixer on his own and how knows what other bartenders might think of.
One thing is shure. Whatever you think share fellas to make community grow!
