George Dickel Bottled In Bond Review

Six readers love this post.
I love George Dickel. I love it, even more, when it’s been well aged and even more when it hasn’t been overly watered down. So, by all means, I should love this George Dickel Bottled In Bond. Distilled in the fall of 2005, bottled in Spring 2019, and bottled at 50% it has all the right indicators of being awesome. But before we dig into this Tennessee Whiskey Review let’s do something I rarely do… chat about price.
When I first heard it was going to be a 13-year-old Bonded whiskey I thought for sure they were going to go the Old Fitzgerald Bonded route and price it through the roof. When they said that it was going to be released at under $40 I thought I had traveled back in time and felt dumbstruck. First, we have the Four Roses Small Batch Select coming in at a not-horrible price, and now this? I hope this trend of fantastic whiskey at reasonable prices continues.

George Dickel Bottled In Bond Review: Overall and Score
Pure Dickel magic. Aroma is full and inviting with sweet and rustic notes playing out evenly and sweet dried corn GD essence; Palate is deep and delicious, taking on more of the oak and darker notes; Finish is an elegant drawl pulling it all together.
This George Dickel Bottled In Bond is currently one of my favorite releases of this year. It’s everything you want in a glass of George amped up and balanced out. I love the occasional light strawberry shortcake and pine notes that come and go, it makes a great Old Fashioned and even opens up a bit, getting oakier and a bit nutty with water.
This is a great Tennessee Whiskey and I can’t recommend it enough.
SCORE: 89/100 (B+)
