Gin Sling

This is a slightly more tart version of a late nineteenth century recipe, bartender and classic cocktail historian extraordinaire Dale DeGroff revived during his management of the Rainbow Room in Manhattan’s Rockefeller Center.

1 ½ ounces gin
1 ounce sweet vermouth
¾ ounce fresh lemon juice
½ ounce simple syrup
1 dash Angostura Bitters
Soda water
Lemon peel for garnish
Combine all ingredients except soda water and shake well with ice. Strain into a Collins glass filled with ice, top off with soda water, Garnish with lemon peel.
