Recently, The New Yorker featured a cover typifying the serious turn craft beer has taken in recent years. Check it out, it's sure to give you a chuckle.

I'm getting more and more into craft beer, maybe because I've found more beers that taste like whisky. Cue the Grimm Shapeshifter.

This Scotch ale has an ABV of 8.3%, what I understand to be relatively high for an ale. With 20 IBU's, it's not too bitter at all. The Shapeshifter actually managed to be a really decadent, rich, full-flavored beer without being too heavy. That crisp body, along with the deep sweetness, reminded me of bourbon. Maybe they'll make a beer drinker ouf ot me yet- (sorry, that was Gimlet). Of me yet*

Taking a look at their site, I'm totally psyched to see that Grimm Artisanal Ales are made by a brewin' couple from local honey. Let's ferment some honey, honey. OK, I'll stop. But seriously-what a legit love story to tell your grandkids.

Also, I had the mighty Shapeshifter at Fool's Gold, where I will most definitely be returning. This is a friendly, spacious bar that perfectly straddles the line between being poppin' and dischoteque full. I also got The Shroom, a provolone slathered sandwich with truffle oil (okay, admittedly, sometimes I do like that stuff). Ace midnight snack.

And I'm pretty into the idea of ordering a "shapeshifter." Makes me feel like a superhero. A superbeerbro.

Which we all deserve to feel like, once in awhile.
